Challenges of copyright enforcement in the digital age discussed at CCP co-hosted Insight & Analysis lecture in Malaysia
World IP Day 2018 event — 2 May 2018
In an event to mark World Intellectual Property Day in Malaysia, CCP partnered with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at MyIPO’s offices in Kuala Lumpur to convene an Insight & Analysis public lecture featuring noted economist, scholar and data scientist Dr Brett Danaher discussing his latest research on copyright enforcement in the digital age.
Speakers included Nur Sulyna Abdullah, Chief Officer, Corporate Strategy, MCMC, and the CCP’s Founding Director and Counsel Frank Rittman. The audience included representatives from the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (MDTCC), the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (MCM), the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum (CMCF), the Consumer Forum of Malaysia (CFM) and Perdananan Kemajuan Filem Nasional (FINAS). Representatives from the content industry such as Media Prima, ASTRO, Dimsum and the local Film Producers’ Association (PFM) as well as the major ISPs such as TM, Time, Maxis, Celcom, DiGi and Umobile were also in attendance.
