Event Summary
For free over-the-air broadcasting to remain a viable means of distribution, the transition to digital television must be accompanied by a solution to prevent its unauthorised redistribution over the Internet. Technical solutions exist and can be embraced to protect unencrypted digital transmissions as a necessary solution to safeguard the same interests that copyright rules protect, namely incentives to create, produce and distribute quality content. Also, FTA broadcasters have been experiencing increasing competition for viewership from alternative content distribution and consumption channels for a long time. This workshop considers what FTA broadcasters can consider in terms of protecting digital broadcasts as well as maximising the revenues generated from quality content. Regulators, broadcasters, and technologists play key roles to realise our digital future.
We look forward to seeing you there!
